Information System
Santini Tracking and Reporting System ("STARS")
To properly address the communication and information needs of our clients, Santini developed its own automated information management system. This custom designed completely proprietary software system, easily integrates the requirements of the shipper, packer, forwarder, and consignee in a straightforward and easy to understand manner. Systems modification, customized client interface, and new applications are provided by our own permanent staff of experienced, degreed systems professionals.
Communication
One of the strengths of the Santini system is its ability to communicate with a broad range of client hardware using a variety of teleprocessing protocols. STARS communicates daily with systems using everything from a PC to a Mainframe and operating in Windows, UNIX, SAP, Oracle environments. The primary teleprocessing potocols are direct dial-up to the client and the use of the Internet, via file transfer protocol (FTP).
Bar Coding
Each receiving is bar code labeled on arrival at Santini and each packed box is individually bar coded as well. On hand inventories and shipments are monitored by bar code to provide reliable information and speed the flow of documentation. Santini's packed box number and packing list number is the same, which allows clients who have bar code at the receiving location to update their inventory system using Santini's label. Since we print our own labels, we can adapt their format to suit a Client's specific requirements.
Internet Access
Clients are able to get "on line", "real time" status through the Santini Web-Site. Current status reporting available includes Purchase Orders, Material Receipts and Packing Lists all at the PO Item/Sub-item Level. Each report may be printed using the client's Internet Browser. This site is continually being enhanced to provide more comprehensive information. We are able to allow Forwarders a link from their own shipment tracking site to our site enabling their clients to "drill down" into the Santini system for more information.
